01

A social-insurance measure of monthly pay

The nationwide average was ¥338,835 among Employees’ Pension Insurance records in September 2025.

Standard monthly remuneration places regular pay into grades used to calculate social-insurance contributions. It gives a consistent administrative measure, but it should not be read as take-home salary or total income.

02

The pay distribution shifts with age

Select an age group and sex to see how insured people are distributed across monthly remuneration bands.

This panel uses the 2024 Japan Health Insurance Association register. Each bar is the share of insured people in that age-and-sex group, not a sample estimate.

Industry averages can be filtered by prefecture

Industry differences remain visible when the comparison is narrowed to one prefecture.

Small register cells suppressed in the official workbook are omitted. A ranking describes recorded averages and does not isolate an industry effect from occupation, age, hours, or employer composition.
